Preface:
The revitalization of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) between 2019-2022 confronts a new set of challenges that shift the focus from infrastructure to governance. The differences in instructions, purposes, and management approaches show the fragment authority and create tension between the mission of public service and the need for long-term financial sustainability.
Meanwhile, TIM could unlock the vast of its potential to strengthen Jakarta’s arts and cultural ecosystem and elevate its standing as a global city. We used a mixed-methods approach to formulate recommendations that optimize the district’s assets and expand fundraising capacity through corporate partnerships and philanthropy, while safeguarding TIM’s social and cultural mission.
In collaboration with Jakarta Provincial Development Planning Agency, we develop governance proposals that strengthen integrated management across the TIM area. Establish a Joint Secretariat as a strategic coordination hub that connects the district’s operators, aligns programs, and safeguards the artistic identity of the TIM cultural precinct.
